Cement Immobilization of Hazardous and Radioactive Electric Arc Furnace Dust

This paper reveals an appropriate ingredient to operating the hazardous and radioactive electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) from steel production factory using cement immobilization technique. The specimens were prepared by mixing tap water with binders (i.e., ordinary Portland cement: OPC, EAFD) at different EAFD replacement of 0%, 15%, 25%, 35%, 40%, 45%, 50% weight. water-to-binders ratio was fi xed 0.40. compressive strength test on fabricated samples performed two curing times 14 28 days. It found that highest can be obtained when loading 25%. However, criteria for waste form, use higher (35% 28-day time) is favorable while meets criteria. phase composition microstructure morphology all analyzed X-ray diffraction (XRD), fl uorescence (XRF) scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS).
